COMMITTEE
Fraser is a successful local businessman and the current chairman of St Andrews United. The former Madras College pupil was a good footballer at school so he went on to play for East Fife, Kelty Hearts and APIA Leichhardt in Australia, having learned his skills at the St Andrews Colts. Fraser has since worked in the hospitality and leisure sector as a director for the Kinnettles Group, which owns a hotel on North Street, a mansion plus a castle near Forfar. However, the St Andrews Golf Club member is now semi-retired so he enjoys travelling abroad to watch live football matches. Fraser has been club chairman since January 2022.
Eric has filled numerous roles at St Andrews United since making his competitive debut as a player against Tulliallan Thistle in 1981. The skilful midfielder scored 46 goals in 308 games for United before managing the club between June 1995 and February 1998. Eric engineered a record 17-0 win over Lochore Welfare whilst in charge of Saints and he is currently our vice chairman. Eric is now responsible for selling pitch-side advertising plus hospitality and he enjoys spending time golfing at St Andrews Links or abroad in Spain.
Leo plays an extremely important role at St Andrews United as the treasurer who is in charge of paying the players every month! The former Madras College pupil also acts as our child protection officer as well as a first aider and he has been a member of the committee since 2007. Our ‘clubman of the year’ for 2022 is a life-long supporter of United and he regularly watches Scotland playing international matches at Hampden Park. Unfortunately, Leo can’t attend every match because he is a support worker and the West Wemyss resident often misses the action on the park due to selling half time draw tickets or counting gate money!
Lindsey is a familiar face around St Andrews due to working at the Morrisons Petrol Station and the University for many years. Lindsey originally hails from Glasgow but she lived in Gibraltar, Singapore and various parts of England when her father was employed by the RAF. The family consequently moved to North East Fife in 1976 and our honorary president has been a member of the St Andrews United committee since 2007. Lindsey also looks after our kit and the keen bingo player has recently taken responsibility for filling out the official team-sheet on a match-day. Lindsey’s husband, David, is the club’s oldest life member.
Ellis is the person likely to meet you at the Recreation Park entry gate on a match-day and he is also the Social Club secretary. The East Neuk resident was part of the St Andrews United committee between 1996 and 2002 before re-joining in 2022. Ellis worked full time at St Andrews University’s Centre for Biomolecular Sciences during his first spell at The Rec, having obtained an HNC in Biological Sciences from the University of Abertay. The keen five-a-side footballer then found employment at the University of Dundee’s School of Life Sciences between 2005 and his retirement in 2021.
David Dunn has just been presented with a special award to mark 40 years as a member of the St Andrews United committee. Indeed, Davy was involved with Saints when the Social Club was built and he has been our handyman ever since. The former botanic gardener has tended our pitch, painted the ground from top to bottom and been our resident linesman for many years. Davy used to live in Strathkinness with late wife and fellow committee member Wilma but he now stays in West Lothian.
Lewis Rodger is our longest-serving committee member, having worked behind the scenes at The Rec since 1976. Lewis was born in St Andrews and he remembers visiting The Rec with his father to watch Saints play during the post-war years. The former post office worker has since moved to Linlithgow and he enjoys spending holidays in the Highlands of Scotland. Lewis currently helps to write our match reports and the St Andrews United Life Member has previously held the positions of club secretary during the late 1970s, club delegate for important regional meetings plus president of the Fife & Lothians Football Association.
Born in St Andrews, Norrie witnessed St Andrews Utd in the quarter final, semi’s and then be victorious in the cup! Worked around the world in the oil and gas industry for 38 years. Norrie is a lifetime member of St Andrews Golf Club and very passionate about St Andrews United. He is now enjoying retirement
Scott Bryson is our Secretary. Profile to follow.
